CHIROPRACTIC

90% of the stimulation of the brain comes from the movement of the spine
— Dr. Roger Sperry, Nobel Prize Winner.

Chiropractic is a natural, scientific health care discipline that focuses on the health and wellbeing of your spine and nervous system.

Basically, your body depends on your nervous system being able to send trillions of messages every second between the brain and the body. When these messages are interrupted, the brain cannot make adequate decisions. This can impact your health at a functional level and the body will begin to compensate, which can lead to adverse symptoms appearing over time. So whilst chiropractic may be used to address symptoms like back and neck pain, sciatica or other nerve pain, headaches, migraine, vertigo, TMJ dysfunction etc; one does not need to actually be in pain to have their spine checked.

Chiropractors ensure that your nervous system is functioning optimally by making adjustments to the spine, skull, pelvis and extremities. Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between the structure and function of your body and embraces the principle that your body is a self-healing, self-regulating organism.

We at Nomad utilise a combination of chiropractic techniques based on the unique individual. The main ones we use though are Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) and Thompson Technique. SOT is named for the relationship between the sacrum (base of the spine) and the occiput (base of the skull); and is the beautiful technique that involves cranial work - which we check on every single client; and can have an amazing impact. A bit about structure and function

The nervous system is made up of the brain and kilometres of nerves that travel throughout the body. The nervous system controls our many bodily functions.

Our spines hold our bodies upright and create anchor points that connect the various fascia supporting our organs and muscle systems.

The pelvis provides foundational support for the human skeleton. It supports the upper body to the skull and assists in transferring our weight to our legs.

The brain and spinal cord are protected inside the skull and spinal column. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) acts as a circulatory system for the brain and spinal cord. CSF transports nutrients to the cells of the brain and spinal cord and assists in eliminating noxious waste from these cells. One of the functions of the sacrum is to pump CSF from the base of the spine back up the spinal canal to the brain and throughout the nervous system. Correct diaphragmatic breathing assists this vital process.
